Apple ships Mac OS 10.4, 10.5, 10.6 with different Python versions as follows:

  10.4.x (Tiger)        ==> Python 2.3.5
  10.5.x (Leopard)      ==> Python 2.5.1
  10.6.x (Snow Leopard) ==> Python 2.6.1
